Lose weight to be healthy
To lose weight and be healthy is the desire of most women, men and even young people nowadays. Losing weight is becoming an obsession for a large part of the population. The incidence of obesity is growing in Brazil and in the world. But does losing weight mean being healthy? Or does being healthy lead to natural weight loss?
Obesity, a global epidemic
Obesity, which was considered a problem in rich countries, is now considered a disease in urban populations, starting from the age of 5. In research conducted by IBGE (Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics) and the Ministry of Health there is a significant increase in the weight of Brazilians.
Obesity is considered a chronic and epidemic disease.
It is a disease of multifactorial etiology, which involves a series of causes, such as genetic, cultural, socioeconomic, psychosocial, caloric, sedentary, and other factors. The documentary “Beyond Weight”, which talks about childhood obesity, shows a generation of children who are condemned to die much earlier than their parents or have health problems due to bad eating habits
The easiest way doesn’t always lead to a happy ending
Shortcuts are not always the best choices. The interesting thing about all this is that the population in general (especially the female population) follows an aesthetic pattern according to socio-cultural norms, which are imposed by groups with shady interests, forgetting the health factor. The need to be accepted and belong to a group of sculptural women is much more important than having health.
Many of these women who want to lose weight at any cost mutilate, deform themselves and pay a high cost, be it financial or with their own health, and many even with their own lives, to feel “beautiful”, in fact accepted by a part of society that imposes intangible standards of beauty.
Emotions can lead us to wrong shortcuts.
There is another group here of men, women and children who, due to lack of self-esteem or feeling of abandonment or loneliness, seek in food a pleasure, an immediate satisfaction and forgetting the future consequences.
Allied to all this, we live in the moment of the here and now, of the faster the better and more comfortable, so that I have more time to do nothing or get lost in the time of social networks, of the fantasies of what I would like to be and am not.
Most people want to take the shortcut, they want the shortest and easiest way. Unfortunately, most of the time these paths lead to the abyss, to the disease and a limiting end, of much physical and emotional pain.
Progress takes its toll: your life
Technological progress has its advantages, but it has charged a very high price. The speed of the information we receive is much faster than our ability to assimilate. Companies and industries have demanded from us an adaptation that goes beyond our limits.
When demands are beyond our physical and emotional capabilities, we suffer consequences and food becomes a refuge, a rewarding pleasure that relieves your tension.
The companies of the slimming culture, of the false health, found a lucrative niche and, many of them, with the makeup of the healthy, comes enriching itself at the expense of the illness of innocent people who blindly look for a relief of their pains without at least looking for information and knowledge regarding what they are ingesting or using in their body, their most precious good.
Your health is in your hands, in your choices
Knowing how to take care of and prevent illness should be something natural and instinctive. Unfortunately, we lost that perception that was given to us at birth.
We poison our bodies with the most varied poisons, ranging from the pollution of air, water and food with toxic substances. We poison our body and brain with sound, visual, electromagnetic pollution through all these wonderful appliances and appliances that make our lives easier and make us sedentary and intoxicated.
We cannot forget that feelings of sadness, sorrow, resentment, fear, doubt and insecurity are also factors that influence our physiology and also intoxicate us and make us seek relief from pain in what may make us sick tomorrow.
We are inundated with stressful, intoxicating and illusory factors that these new inventions can do us good. It is up to each of us to have the common sense, the discernment and the wisdom that everything in life has a price, both health and disease. There are no miraculous formulas.
In this wilderness we live in today, we need to research, we need to keep in mind what is really important to us and our family.
We cannot stop progress, but we can choose what is fundamental to us.
Family, health, healthy relationships, fellowship with God and the nature he has left us may seem banal goods in our generation, but they are beacons that guide us and give us the structure to move forward.
Knowing how to set goals, objectives, set limits in life is crucial for good health and physical and mental well-being. Choosing what to eat for the healthy maintenance of this wonderful machine that is our body is essential. If you choose the right fuel to put in your car why not choose the best for your body too?
